PERFORMANCE OF STRAWBERRY IN A CLOSED LOOP AQUAPONICS SYSTEM

Aquaponics is an innovative technology and a sustainable source of organic food in agriculture that combines aquaculture (fish farming) hydroponics (soilless plant cultivation). To determine the performance strawberry closed loop aquaponics system, experiment was carried out at newly established system Ornamental plants nursery, Department Horticulture, The University Agriculture Peshawar 2019.Strawberry cv. Chandler raised from runners peat moss seedlings were transplanted different times i.e., 15th January, February March. Experiment laid Randomized complete block design (RCBD) with single factor i.e. Transplantation five replications. analysis data showed transplantation significantly affected growth, yield quality strawberry. However on February, resulted maximum number leaves plant-1 (7.79), fresh & dry weight (29.39 4.04 g ), fruits (20.0), fruit (140 g), root length (16.69 cm) (35.74 6.32 g). Whereas January took days (100.20) to maturity produced minimum (4.66).However march first flowering (35.00) (10.51 cm). It concluded results Strawberry could be growing beds for better production under agro-climatic conditions Peshawar.
